Great hidden gem which you wouldn't have any clue existed as it's nicely tucked away. You park on the road that runs through the village and walk about 300 yards to the falls. As you approach you start to hear the stream and the falls start to open up. It's a spectacular sight as you can get very close. Be careful because it's slippery in places.
Really nice waterfall. This place is a bit of the main roads and routes but definitely worth a visit. Beautiful place and even during the school holidays not busy. You can get right up to the falls and get some great pictures.
Also some nice space to skip some stones and have a picnic.
One this to watch out is parking is very limited by the falls. I would recommend parking along the main road in the village and walk the short walk to the falls.
Definitely worth a visit.
Parking is limited, your best parking along the main village road and walking down.
The waterfall is beautiful and you can see nature at its best and how it's all naturally landscaped.
You can paddle and at points it's deep enough to swim so definitely worth packing the swim stuff. The water is freezing so if you have wet suits I'd recommend putting them on.
Sea shoes are also a good shout as there's lots of stones and uneven ground and some of the rocks can be slippery.
You can climb right up to the waterfall and go underneath. If you follow the stream down under the bridge there is a plunge pool with a rope swing which is great fun!
Within the village a 2 minute walk away you will find a lovely pub which is greatly priced and does lunch and dinner. Plus a tea room.
Great falls to walk too. You can get really close so you can feel the force of the water. Ideal for swimming . So Great walks around the site too. Enjoy. P s it's free.!!😀😁👍
Gorgeous little hidden away waterfall and river next to the village West Burton a few miles away from Leyburn. Free parking next to the river. Google maps takes you straight to it. Go for a lovely walk in the countryside by crossing Iver the bridge and walk up the embankment and you'll walk through a gate. Just continue along following the public footpath signs.
We managed to make a full circle walking more or less parallel to the river heading up stream to eventually cross a second bridge, then follow downstream parallel the river and we ended up at the top of the village of West Burton where you can stop for a drink at the local pub or sit and enjoy the sun from one of many of the wooden benches dotted around the green.
Fabulous place tucked away from the real world.
Lovely family walk for those with small children and the waterfall was beautiful just after a big down pour
Love visiting this waterfall! I've never been when it has been busy either.Easy to get up close to. Can be muddy after rain. I think , with a bit a care, it is accessable by wheel chair. Park in the village and walk on. The sound of the falls will soon hit you! It's not far. Gorgeous little bridge takes you over to the other side. Also, there's a lovely 5 mile circular walk from here.
West Burton is a lovely village with a large village green, lovely cottages , a pub, village shop and a cafe ( will be trying it out next time we go👍🏻).
As waterfalls go this is a lovely sight to see.
Only a small walk from the West Burton Village Green, where there is lots of on road parking.
All Free - which makes a change.
